I'm Betsan a pre/postnatal strength training exercise specialist working in Cardiff. My journey to The Glow Method at Home started a few months after my first son was born.
I graduated in 2005 with a Sports Science degree and my love of all physical activity and sport lead me to qualify, and spend 11 years as a girls’ games teacher, motivated every day to inspire a love of sports and physical activity in the girls’ I taught. A competitive athlete, I represented my country and played sport at a high level for many years. I skied, surfed, joined in all kinds of exercise classes and ran half marathons for fun. After my son was born, with no idea about my pelvic floor and abdominal wall, I presumed I would ‘bounce’ back to my old life and exercise habits. 5 weeks after my baby was born I spent a weekend skiing. It was this weekend that gave me the wake up call that any other kind of trauma or injury is currently treated with more respect, and rehabbed more appropriately than birth.
The ski weekend (and it’s fall out) inspired a passion in me to figure out how to rehab my body properly, and so that it was stronger than ever before. It also allowed me to completely relate to ‘wanting to feel normal again, and wanting your old body back’. I really understand pushing yourself physically because everything feels ok. My passion for the last 2 years has been to perfect a method that empowers women to feel like themselves again in a progressive, safe, but most importantly sweaty and motivational way.
I trained and worked in The Lotus Method, San Fransisco, CA in a pre/postnatal personal training company which was leading the field with their education programme and forward thinking attitude. I loved seeing women stay fit, happy, and aches and pains free during pregnancy and then go on to rehab appropriately, empowered with knowledge postpartum.
Since returning to the UK I’ve immersed myself in training courses that are forward thinking, observed other experts, worked day to day with pre/postnatal women on their fitness goals and have strived to become as highly specialist as possible.
About a year ago I founded The Glow Method, a mix of all the best of the training and experience I’ve gained both in California and the UK.
